great place to work

New Paltz, NY –Great Place to Work Institute and its senior care partner Activated Insights have honored Woodland Pond at New Paltz with certification as a Great Place to Work for 2023. The certification process involved surveying 100% of employees from across all departments and evaluating more than 60 elements of staff members’ experience as an employee of Woodland Pond. These 60 elements included employee pride in the organization’s community impact, belief that their work makes a difference, and feeling their work has special meaning. Rankings are based on employees’ experiences, no matter who they are or what they do.

“It is such an honor to have achieved this certification, and a validation of all that we try to do to make Woodland Pond a home away from home for our employees,” says Michelle Gramoglia, Woodland Pond President and CEO. “Our intent for issuing these surveys was to gather feedback from the staff as to what they felt we could do to better position ourselves as a leader in the long-term care and retirement fields, and in the process, achieved the necessary results to certify us as a Great Place to Work!”

There are 5 broad categories assessed, across the 60 elements. Of the 5, the three categories where Woodland Pond was recognized by staff to be the highest performing were respect, pride, and camaraderie. Gramoglia shares, “This is very meaningful to us as a community. To know that the majority of our staff emphasized these three categories tell us that the support and family-like environment that is so special and unique at Woodland Pond is being felt by more than just a few.”

“Through this survey, we received invaluable direction from staff as to what we need to do better to ensure that we continue to be an employer of choice in the Hudson Valley, which is a tenet of our strategic plan but to attract new talent and retain the incredible staff that we have,” Gramoglia added. “We are so appreciative of all of the staff that took the time to complete the anonymous surveys, and use their voices to help us all elevate all that we do here.”

According to Great Place to Work and Activated Insights, a typical U.S. company sees 57% of employees naming their workplace as a great place to work. This survey showed that 80% of Woodland Pond employees would call Woodland Pond a great place to work. “This is an incredible outcome,” says Gramoglia, “especially in light of the fact that we performed this survey in the extremely challenging post-COVID long-term care and retirement world.”
